The New Real Estate Industry –It’s a marked change in the residential real estate industry, brought about by increased access to information and supportive tools by consumers. The internet has unlocked the Information Age.  It’s the Tipping Point.  Consumers have access to free property listing services with video tours through handheld or all manner of devices.  If you like what you see, you can check out satellite images or get GPS Mapping directions to do the “drive by."

If you can do all that yourself, think about the time and money it saves you and your real estate agent.

In Freakonomics, Steven Levitt’s portrait of the real estate agent as well as Reader’s Digest’s reference to their Cartel may lead one to see real estate agents as less than genuine.  Acknowledging the points made by both authors, there’s no question that their compensation and incentives are under review.

Insinuations to the contrary, the majority of real estate agents are honest, dedicated, hardworking, interesting people.  Some of them are so smart that they’ve figured out that their talent; their investment in their career, is worth what any professional would reasonably charge on an hourly basis for a valuable and necessary service. They’re shaking the image of the Jaguar driving chauffeur. And we’ll refer to them as REALTORS from this point forward because if an agent is not a member of their State and National Association of REALTORS, they’re not serious about the profession.             

Whether you’re buying or selling a property, you have the ability to help your REALTOR provide you with the services you really need to buy or sell your home in a cost effective manner.
